6 tips to redo your wardrobe without breaking the bank
by Maelle Cohen -
Even if the sun still illuminates our days, we must admit it, back-to-school is right around the corner! With the changing season comes the changes in your wardrobe.
Here are valuable tips to avoid the crazy spending during your next shopping trip.
1// Clean your wardrobe
We too often think that a well-filled wardrobe allows more looks. The reality is that you always end up wearing the same clothes. The more cluttered your wardrobe is, the less you can find interesting combinations.
Before any purchase, count down what you own. Empty your wardrobe and analyze what you really wear. For each piece, determine whether you keep it, give it or throw it away.
2// Plan
You think you don’t have a good sense of style? No problem! You can search for outfits that you like on resources like Pinterest or Instagram. Keep your favorite pictures and analyze the pieces that make up these outfits. You will sometimes realize that you already have all the essentials in your wardrobe.
3// Take inventory
Now that you have a newly reorganized wardrobe and have determined the looks you want, it's time to see what key pieces are missing from your closet. If one of the styles you intend to go with has a nice little blazer and you do not have one, put it on your list!
4// Opt for accessories
While it may be tempting to simply throw your entire wardrobe in the trash, there are alternate solutions! Revisit your basic clothes with new accessories! These pieces can completely change the feel and appearance of an outfit. Add a pair of trendy shoes or a well-appointed handbag to give new life to your clothes.
5// Opt for versatile items
Look for accessories or clothes that will complement many of your outfits. Also opt for a garment that will allow you to create several different outfits.
Speaking of versatility, you could also decide to invest in a new purse allowing you to change the flap according to your outfit (we must say that we are biased on the latter;) )
I do not know if it is the same for you, but I have trouble giving clothes for which I spent a fortune. If yes, have you thought of exchanging clothes with your friends in exchange for theirs? It’s fantastic to feel like you have new clothes, without spending a dime. As they say, the misfortune of some often makes the happiness of others!
